Some stories of business beginnings are filled with elaborate planning and strategic meetings. Others, like HarmonyPlan, are born from simple conversations and unexpected connections that span continents. This is the story of how three individuals—living in different parts of the world—came together to create what would become a successful insurance business in Canada.
It began on March 28, 2025, with a routine phone call between two old friends. Vipul Anand, who had been developing websites since the dawn of the internet in India back in 1998, received a call from his friend Ajay Dabur, who had relocated to Canada.
"What are you up to these days?" Ajay asked Vipul during their call. As they caught up on life events, Ajay suddenly remembered something important. "You know, I have a friend here in Canada, Rekha Sagwal—we went to agriculture college together. She's looking to build a side business as a licensed insurance agent but needs an online presence. Would you mind if I shared your number with her?"
Vipul, always open to new projects, agreed. The next day, Rekha sent Vipul a WhatsApp message outlining her vision for an online insurance business. They scheduled a call to discuss the details further.
During their conversation, Vipul asked if Rekha had thought about a name for her business. When she mentioned she was still considering options, Vipul suggested an approach that honored her cultural background while creating a meaningful business identity.
"Being from a Hindu background," Vipul explained, "many believe in the auspicious alignment of life path numbers derived from birth dates. It could be a meaningful way to select your business name."
Rekha was intrigued. She shared her birth date—November 14, XXXX—and Vipul began the process of calculating her Life Path Number.
